The Ripple Effect Wayne Michigan Downtown Revitalization

at 6:00pm at the Wayne Public Library. Downtown Wayne Supporters are welcome to attend and help us work on our goals for 2013 which are: Get a 501c3, raise $60K, apply for “Select Level” with the Michigan Main Street Center plus benches & bike racks in the downtown, outdoor concerts,  filling vacant buildings, and more. Friday May 17th Wayne Memorial High School “All Class” Reunion. This event is for anyone who attended or graduated from Wayne Memorial High School ever! This year we will be honoring the Class of ’63. Gathering starts at 5pm with Dinner at 6pm at the Wayne Tree Manor. Evening ends at 10pm. Come join the fun and catch up with classmates from the past. Saturday July 13th Cruisin’ US12 For the 2013 Car Cruise on Michigan Avenue the community has banded together to put on the event. Various downtown businesses, residents, local leaders and service organizations will be putting on “Cruisin’ US12″ pot luck style with everyone doing a little something to make the event happen so that no one has to worry about the out of pocket expenses! Want to help? We meet on Monday evenings at US12 Bar & Grill on Michigan Avenue (of course) at 6:30pm!

Parks & Recreation Summer Updates

The Wayne-Westland Parks & Recreation presents Musicals, Movies and More…. at the Wayne-Westland Community Center! Check out Dance, Gymnastics and Cheerleading performances from over 200 youth performers of the Wayne-Westland community! Saturday, May 18th at 6:30 or Sunday, May 19th at 2:30. Tickets $4.00/each (3 & under FREE).

A Memorable Kids Night Out on May 25th from 6 – 10 PM at the Wayne-Westland Community Center for ages 6 – 13! Children will enjoy swimming, games, pizza/pop and more!! Cost: $13/Resident & $16/Non-Resident

Don’t forget registration is open for Summer Day Camp: 11 New Weekly Themes and Field Trips – check out the Open House June 4th or 5th at 7 PM in the Wayne-Westland Community Center!

Registration is also open for Adult Co-Ed Kickball (18 + years) to be held in Attwood Park! Games (10 game season, plus playoffs) will be played on Thursday, beginning June 13th. $200/team

New fitness classes begin in May including Hustle Fitness Classes every Tuesday from 7 – 9 PM beginning May 7th and Hatha Yoga every Thursday from 5:30 – 6:45 beginning May 9th.

Higher Rock Cafe The Wayne-Westland Salvation Army hosts Higher Rock Cafe, an evening of Christian music, fellowship, games and concessions at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Friday of the month at the corps, 2300 Venoy, south of Palmer. There’s no cover charge. For more information  call (734) 722-3660.

The Wayne Lions Club is looking for new members.
We are best known as the “Knights for the blind” Our primary involvement is helping those with vision and hearing impairments. The club has several fund raising activities and donates 100% of proceeds back to the community.
The Club meets at 7pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday’s of every month at the China Star Palace Restaurant on Wayne Road south of Cherry Hill in Westland.
