Every Wednesday from 3-7pm in beautiful Goudy Park (behind Wayne City Hall) bring the family for an afternoon of fresh wholesome food, lively local music and a big dose of community spirit. This is Downtown Wayne’s most popular event and one of the best markets (or so we hear) in the area.

This meeting is open to all members of boards, councils, civic organizations or clubs in the City of Wayne to gather and discuss what each entity is doing to better the community and how we can work together to successfully move forward together to revitalize our city.

World Hoop Day Volunteer Orientation – Wayne Fire Station
Interested in volunteering during World Hoop Day in Goudy Park on October 4th? Attend this short volunteer orientation for sign-up information, instruction, and training so that you feel well prepared for the big day! This event is donating a portion of its proceeds to the Wayne Main Street program in exchange for volunteer helpers – the more the merrier!


Saturday October 4th: World Hoop Day – MI in Goudy Park 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM $5 Admission

World Hoop Day is a day of performances and classes for those who are interested in hula hooping. But it’s not only about uniting hoopers from across the state, we also come together in the name of a good cause. 40% of proceeds will go to Wayne’s Downtown Revitalization effort.

Bring the family out for this fun event – after the Wayne Farmer’s Market, Goudy Park will be the place to be! A bonfire will crackle as you sip on apple cider, roast marshmallows, and snack on donuts. Voting ballots will be available to choose what you think is the best scarecrow in town – two winners will be awarded this year! Walking around our Downtown to view the scarecrow submissions will be fun as local businesses keep their doors open later providing places to warm up if the fall weather is cool. This event is FREE and open to the public. If you decorated a scarecrow, we encourage you to invite all of your friends so that you can get as many votes as possible!

Wayne Main Street and the Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to celebrate shopping local for the holidays during Small Business Saturday! Downtown Wayne has been selected by American Express to be an official participant this year and details about related events will be released soon.



VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Memorial Day Parade committee which meets at 7:30 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Harris-Kehrer VFW Post 3323 on Wayne Road at Avondale in Westland is in need of volunteers.

Friendly Quilters at First Congregational Church:  The quilters meet on Monday mornings at 9:30 am.  Anyone that would like to quilt is welcome. Located at 2 Towne Square in downtown Wayne (across from Library)

Every Wednesday at 7:30pm the Westland T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) non-profit weight loss support group meets at St. John’s Episcopal Church 555 S. Wayne Road in Westland. TOPS will give you the tools to lose. TOPS is open to men, women, teens and pre-teens that need to lose weight. All are welcome. Find support motivation, recognition, awards and more. The Wayne Lions Club is looking for new members. We are best known as the “Knights for the blind” Our primary involvement is helping those with vision and hearing impairments. The club has several fund raising activities and donates 100% of proceeds back to the community. The Club meets at 7pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday’s of every month at the China Star Palace Restaurant on Wayne Road south of Cherry Hill in Westland. Master Gardeners of Western Wayne County  You don’t need to be a Master Gardener to enjoy our meetings. Activities include demonstrations, speakers and refreshments. If you are a Master Gardener each meeting counts as one hour towards your annual education requirement.
